Itinerary
Day 1 – Atlanta, GA
Today, you travel to Atlanta, GA. On arrival, check into your hotel for a three night stay. Dinner on own.
Day 2 – Stone Mountain Park – World of Coca-Cola or CNN Studio Tour
After breakfast, you begin a full day of local Atlanta sightseeing. Start with a visit to Stone Mountain Park. You can view the magnificent Confederate Memorial Carving, the largest high relief sculpture in the world. The entire carved surface measures three-acres. Enjoy time at the Confederate Hall Historical Center, located at the base of the walk-up trail, where the focus is the fascinating geology and ecology of Stone Mountain. Visit Historic Square, Memorial Hall, ride the Summit Skyride Swiss cable car and ride the scenic train around the base of the “stone”. Enjoy the shops and eateries of the Crossroads section. And you may want to take time to explore the Antebellum Plantation area and it’s farmyard area.
This afternoon choose between the World of Coca-Cola or Inside CNN Studio Tour. At the World of Coca-Cola, you experience the fascinating story of the world’s most famous beverage brand in a dynamic, multimedia attraction. Walk through a fully-functioning bottling line that produces a complimentary glass bottle of Coca-Cola.
Or you can journey into the heart of CNN Worldwide and get an up-close look at global news in the making! The Inside CNN features an exclusive, behind-the-scenes views of Atlanta’s CNN studios.
This evening, you enjoy dinner at Mary Macs Tea Room. For over 60 years Mary Macs Tea Room has been setting the standard for Southern Cooking in Atlanta. Enjoy a Southern Family Style dinner that has remained largely the same for three generations.
Day 3 – Gone with the Wind Touring
Begin with a visit to the Atlanta Cyclorama, now located in a Civil War section at the Atlanta History Center. It is the worlds largest painting of “the Battle of Atlanta,” you figuratively step back into the year 1864 and Civil War era.
Then you meet a costumed guide and get a behind-the-scenes look at the true stories behind “Gone With the Wind.” First stop is the Margaret Mitchell House, the site where she actually wrote the book.
Next leaving Atlanta you travel to the south and visit the Road to Tara Museum. Here you see see original props, costume reproductions, collective plates and dolls and an extensive photo gallery.
This evening you enjoy a splendid Southern Evening at an elegant plantation home. The mansion is decorated to reflect the daily life of a bygone era, and is accompanied by an evening with a fine dinner, period musicians and dancing.
Day 4 – Depart
After breakfast, you depart for home.
