Tonight, get your game on at French Lick Casino, it’s a 51,000-square-foot Vegas-style gaming facility all on one floor with soaring 27-foot ceilings. On the gaming floor, you’ll find live-action blackjack, roulette and craps and other table games, and a luxurious high-limit room. (D)
Day 2 – Wilstem Wildlife Park Safari Wagon Tour – Shopping Downtown French Lick – French Lick Scenic Railway – Sunset Wine Cruise
Day two begins with a delicious breakfast buffet in the former ballroom where FDR received the nomination to run for President in 1932. This is followed by a tour of the French Lick Springs Hotel. Established in 1845, this classic resort hotel has now been completely restored, returning it to its original charm and grandeur.
First attraction today is the Wilstem Wildlife Park Safari. Take a guided wagon tour of the park and see over 40 different species. This is your chance to get up close and personal with the animals!
Then head to downtown French Lick for lunch on your own and shopping.
This afternoon, journey back to the days when the railroad was considered the most luxurious way to travel! Coincidentally, it is the same era this hotel grew to fame, with their guests arriving by train. Your ride on the French Lick Scenic Railway, with her historic railcars is about a two-hour experience. Your journey is through portions of the Hoosier National Forest, and into the 2200-foot Burton Tunnel, then past impressive limestone rock cuts before returning to the station. Your ticket also includes a quick visit to the Indiana State Railway Museum.
Dinner this evening is another banquet buffet at French Lick Springs Resort. (Groups who want to upgrade to dinner at the West Baden Springs Hotel will need to add $50 per person to the price).
End the day with a Sunset Wine Cruise. Unspoiled views of Indiana sunsets from Patoka Lake combine with Indiana wines and hors d’oeuvres/desserts to make for a relaxing summer evening aboard the Patoka Voyager cruise boat! Sunset Wine Cruise tastings feature only Indiana wineries. (B,D) (Sunset Wine Cruise available 2nd & 4th Fridays of June, July & August, charter may be available.)
**Also available is a Fall Foliage Wine Cruise on select Saturdays Afternoons in September & October.
Day 3 – West Baden Springs Hotel Tour – Depart for Home
After the breakfast buffet in the Colonnade Dining Room, enjoy a walking tour of the West Baden Springs Hotel. Once called the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the focal point of West Baden Springs Hotel is an awe-inspiring atrium that spans 200 feet. Explore the elegant atrium, more than 50 varieties of flowers create a lush display in the garden, the mineral springs pavilions, and the rest of this restored hotel.
Following the tour, depart for home. (B)
