Day 2 – Museum of Contemporary Art – Foodie Tour – Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame – Dinner & Live Music
This morning visit the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, The Rock Hall isn’t the only pyramid-like building in town, this museum is a reflective black stainless steel building that acts as an object of admiration for the art lovers it attracts. After admiring this feat of artsy architecture, head inside to browse the collection that has included the likes of Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Frank Gehry and Yoko Ono.
Next, you take an Iconic Food Tour of Cleveland. Taste the flavors that built this rust belt city while learning how a melting pot of cultures evolved Cleveland into a culinary juggernaut. Possible stops include: a Cleveland Landmark slinging schnitzel and pierogi started by a Slovenian immigrant with just a few picnic tables; a Little Italy Bakery with desserts nearly too pretty eat that’s been run by the same family for four generations; Cleveland’s oldest family owned restaurant whose polish cuisine has earned them a James Beard award; a must stop of the Presidential Campaign trail that’s nationally known for its mouth watering corned beef.
The afternoon features a tour of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The 150,000 square-foot museum features seven floors, five theaters for films, special events and free public programs and ever-changing exhibits. With a permanent collection drawing from the most impressive and iconic rock and roll artifacts and a wide-ranging roster of on-going and temporary exhibits. The museum is dedicated to exploring the past, present and future of the music and the cultural context from which it emerges.
Tonight, enjoy dinner and live music at the Music Box Supper Club. Enjoy an intimate live performance from homegrown Cleveland talent, who will be covering a music legend’s most beloved songs— while enjoying a meal and the Music Box Supper Club’s gorgeous riverfront views. If there is not a live concert already scheduled this evening, you have the option of choosing your artist. Live Tribute Options include: Paul Simon, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Dave Matthews Band, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, U2 and Bruce Springsteen.
Day 3 – Oneonta or Cooperstown, NY – Red Shed brewery
Travel today is across New York State where you overnight in Oneonta, NY just south of Cooperstown, lodging in Cooperstown itself is possible, but expensive.
For dinner tonight you visit the Red Shed Brewery where your tour includes a “Beers of the Week Sampler.” With plenty of outdoor seating, an inside taproom, and a relaxed atmosphere, Red Shed Brewery is a welcoming local hangout. And we are one of the few breweries with food in the region. In addition to fresh pub favorites, our menu offers vegetarian options made with local ingredients.
Day 4 – Baseball Hall of Fame – Cooperstown
This morning your group will visit The National Baseball Hall of Fame, one of our country’s greatest treasures. It’s mission is to “relive the history of the National Pastime, through artifacts from historic records, to the plaques of the game’s greatest players in the Hall of Fame Gallery.” Once inside, that history comes to life, perhaps you’ll like the New York Yankees display, the Abbott and Costello “Who’s on First,” movie clip, a wonderful baseball card display, or the actual Hall of Fame where you can read plaques all day on all the great players inducted into this illustrious museum. In a park-like setting near the shore of Otsego Lake this is a must-see for the baseball fan . The displays are of sport’s history, victories and reminds of all of simpler times. To many this visit will be simply, one of life’s great joys.
Part of your visit will be a special program, an Artifact Spotlight in the Bullpen Theater. It’s a presentation by an authenticator who will show you items not on display, but part of the archives, that could relate to your hometown favorite team or one of the members in The Hall.
Following that program, your afternoon from lunch through dinner is free time. Some of your group members may spend the entire afternoon in the the museum. Others will spend the day browsing through the delightful shops and restaurants of this quaint downtown. It’s a very comfortable pedestrian community just a few blocks long, but with so many choices your group will stay busy and happy until after dinner. Cooperstown has been nostalgically called “Main Street USA,” there are no franchise restaurants or stores, the buildings have been standing for decades and the feel is that Americana.
Day 5 – Woodstock – Return Home
As you start for home, your group will stop at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, a National Registry Historic Site where the 1969 Woodstock Festival occurred. It’s a place where you can reach across time and step into the past. A place that holds the spirit of a generation who stood at the vanguard of history and changed the world. A place where musically everything that came after, started here. It’s a museum and much more honoring the decade that ushered in a new world.
Lunch is included for your group and if time we will schedule a special program.
