Itinerary
Day 1 – Lancaster, PA – Lancaster Balloon Festival – Balloon Glow & More
Today, arrive in Lancaster, PA and check into your Lancaster area hotel for a two night stay.
Tonight, dinner is a traditional Amish Family-Style meal at one of the area’s many great Amish Restaurants. Savor fresh wholesome Penn Dutch Food served with large platters of meat, bowls of vegetables, breads and Grandma Smuckers Desserts.
Following dinner, enjoy the evening at the Lancaster Balloon Festival. This event is held every year in the village of Bird-in-Hand. The festival features tethered Balloon Rides, Amish Food & Goods, Vendors, a Corn Maze plus dozens of colorful balloons in the sky. There is also a main stage featuring concerts, magicians and performers.
Tonight, enjoy the Balloon Glow. Watch a spectacular show of balloons igniting their burners to illuminate the evening sky with dazzling colors! You can also walk among the balloons and get an up close look. (D)
Day 2 – Morning Ascension – The Everyday Life of an Amish Woman – Kitchen Kettle Village – Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire – A Faire Feast
It’s an early morning today for the Morning Mass Ascension. Enjoy this amazing spectacle as over 35 colorful balloons take flight together at sunrise.
Then enjoy The Everyday Life of an Amish Woman and get an insightful look at the Amish way of life from a woman’s perspective. Learn about such traditions as weddings and funerals, Rumspringa, schooling, farming, cooking and how the Amish adapt to the modern world around them. You’ll hear from “Sadie King,” an Amish woman portrayed in authentic Amish dress by Susan Heil, an actress and long-time Lancaster County tour guide who has a Pennsylvania Dutch background herself and enjoys learning about the Amish.
Enjoy some free time at Kitchen Kettle Village. With over 40 specialty shops, restaurants, and plenty of hands-on activities including a self-guided tasting tour in the Jam & Relish Kitchen.
The rest of the day is yours to explore the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate. An extensive cast of costumed characters from Merry Old England will take you back to medieval times as you encounter music, dancing, and a variety of special attractions.
Get ready to live the excitement and adventure of jousting knights and royal delights with colorfully costumed villagers and merrymakers ready to make your visit an unforgettable experience. Musical, stunt and theatrical performances, magic acts and comical mud beggars are just a few of the many daily shows! Immerse yourself in a rowdy festival steeped in the allure of bygone days and knights.
Included with your visit is a Faire Feast including a delicious selection of 16th century foods and traditional favorites and live entertainment.
End the festival day in joyously boisterous song lead by the Musicians of the Shire! Join Her Majesty, Her Court, and the Shire folk of Mount Hope as they bid you farewell with songs we all know and love.(B,D)
Day 3 – Depart for Home
For those who wish to get up early, you can enjoy the final Morning Balloon Ascension before departing for home. (B)
